So I learned a new skill if I ever get short of money in Colombia. Gen inadvertently closed and locked our bedroom door. I said something very rude because I knew neither I nor Lina, our lovely host, had been able to find a key. Apparently the previous guests had disappeared with it two days before, and no replacement had been made.
I said "miercoles", similar sounding, but a polite way of saying "mierda" or "shit" in English to Lina. We scratched our heads, checked a ton of keys, considered the window, then I consulted Google and discovered that our lock might not be secured against the 'credit card 2 second trick'.
Together we tried first one credit card blank unsuccessfully, then two together. With forceful wriggling and pushing of the combo between door jamb and lock tongue, bingo and hey presto, we broke in.
After a whoop of joy and brief hug, both Lina and I are now regaling everyone with stories how we are "compadres en delinquencia" or partners in crime: Lina robs a bank today, I rob a bank tomorrow..."no te preocupes" or no worries!
Cross my palm with a $10 note and I will show you how.

Bird feeders on the property are very successful, visited by both regular birds and hummingbirds, one of them wearing amazing 'snow boots'. The bonus is agoutis.
