Kununurra has a campground righ next to the lake. A jabiru nonchalantly popped in to visit us at sunset which we all enjoyed.
The road to Broome passes through the old mining town of Halls Creek. A statue of a miner with a mate in a wheelbarrow tells the story of a miner who trundled his sick mate many miles for help.
Just outside town is a remarkable quartz formation, China Wall, which marches up the landscape and glistens in the sun.
The road via Fitzroy Crossing passes some imposing mesa country which looks like fair dinkum cowboy country from a Western film.
