Rising Heat in the Gulf Country

On the lookout for Morning Glory special cloud formations in the Gulf country, we went to Normanton, famed for its Purple Pub, 'Krys' the monster croc statue, and more historical building gems.

After the red dust, we felt like some R&R. We got pampered in the biggest private swimming pool in Queensland and hot sauna.

From Normanton to Karumba, famed for its fishing, we passed several wetlands with shrinking pools of water attracting lots of brolgas at the end of the Dry.

Out at Karumba Point for a morning stroll, there were tranquil sea views from the pub.

Lunch was splendid fish n chips in town with cheeky peewee stridently begging.

We went again to the Point in the late afternoon to sit with a chilled glass of white wine, gazing out to sea.
