From Skull Spring to Sensational Sunset

Rolling through the Pilbara on our way through the Bush to Karratha, we took the beautiful Skull Spring Road past the humorous roadsign to the spring and on to the tiny town of Nullagine.

From there, we continued cross-country, then pulled up beside the road because we were curious about a bushcamp on our camping app, named 'sensational sunset'.

We took an overgrown track up and over a hill through spinifex to a perfect site on top of the world.

Our drone had fun soaring above.

Sensational sunset gave way to a moonlit landscape, still and quiet until the very early morning when multiple butcherbirds' carolling rose all around. Magic.

Spring is wildflower time in WA, so we enjoyed lush, roadside displays of mulla mulla and finally saw elegant Sturt's Peas.

At Karratha free camp, we were treated to a magnificent misty sunrise.
