Thanks to the many iron ore and mineral mines in the region, the roads to remote corners, such as Nullagine, are good bitumen used by giant 4-trailer road trains.
Carawine Gorge is a popular offroad campspot beside the river with its pelicans, cormorants and ibises.
Also present were three easygoing bulls regularly patrolling keeping an eye on the campers.
After the bulls' ghostly shapes have disappeared into darkness, Gen ventured out with her tripod to take night sky shots.
From here we went to Running Waters another creek campsite, winding our way over creeks and across open, sprawling plains dotted with spring flowers and hardrock outcrops.
