Cairns from a Chopper

On a rare rainless day in the Wet season, we booked a helicopter flight from The Marina. The price was right because we won a $200 voucher from the Queensland government to boost the economy.

Walking to the helipad along the marina path in sunshine past joggers, sculptures, and cafes, it felt great to be back.

We waited in groups for our respective choppers, however the helicopter meant to pick up the group before us, developed a check light message, so ours went first.

The sun went behind sea haze enveloping us in blue as we flew first around Green Island, then to Arlington Reef, Michaelmas Cay with a sprinkling of terns, then Upolu Cay, before returning.
