A lovely, narrow, winding track led us to 12-mile Lagoon on the Normanby River. Site 6 was perfect, high enough to be away from the aggressive croc, and beautifully enclosed with fan palms, luxuriant foliage, and space to build a campfire for a citrus damper in the camp oven. First task was the red dust sun tan inducing removal of the aircon dustcover - such a cherished task, not!
The dawn chorus was wonderful, especially because we had another coral tree beside us attracting orioles, honeyeaters and corellas. Gen chased all kinds of birds, including spangled drongos, red finches, diminutive rufous whistlers, a proud pacific baza bird of prey, and many more species.
