Nifold Plain and Low Lake

After Hann Crossing, we continued north over the corrugated dirt road to Nifold Plain. Hundreds and hundreds of peaky, termite mounds interspersed with lone palms, ranged as far as the eye could see across the plain.

Gen spots a handy sidetrack leading past a shrinking, birdy, lily-filled waterhole. A very lean and bony dingo inspects the vehicle, then lopes across the landscape. A flock of nervous rajah shelducks lifts off, as does a massive, black-necked stork which lands 100m away to stride between the termite mounds.

Low Lake

A sandy, ribbon track leads to this beautiful, wide beach on the lake stippled with lilies and specked with waterbirds.
