In the Borderland of the Northern Territory

Keep River National Park lies a couple of kms east of the WA/NT border and shares the same glamorous landscapes of the neighbouring Kimberley region.

On this second visit, we followed the recently graded dirt road to Jarnem campsite, offering the best of the bush.

Early morning was a delight to set out for a walk, the scent of dew on tall grass, a faint background smell of woodsmoke from backburning, and the melodic calls of butcherbirds.

Next day, we drove to Jenemoom for another walk at the foot of a glowing orange escarpment, along the bank of a river already dried to a chain of waterholes.

The last night was spent at the Brolga Dreaming campsite or Goorrandalng Campground, overlooked by dramatic layered rockscapes with livistona palms. On our way in, we saw a lone black stork parading in a waterhole.

Early morning we were off again on a wonderful loop walk, weaving in and around the stacked rocks decorated with tussocks of sharp spinifex tipped by the first rays of sunlight.
