Dawn on Yellow Water Billabong

Yellow Water Billabong is always interesting for the sheer exuberance and variety of wildlife, so a fourth visit was a must. 

As the sun peeped over the horizon, we cruised across the floodplains to find majestic white bellied sea eagle, Dad comb crested Jacana with four fluffball chicks with delicate legs longer than their body, multitudes of plumed whistling ducks, wild pigs digging, and of course crocs, including a real monster 4.5m saltie who, looking and lurking for a pork breakfast, allowed us to cruise up within inches of his snout..

What better way to cool down in the afternoon heat than to take a dip in the splendid pool at Cooinda Lodge.
