Driving down the Tasman Peninsula, we popped into the scenic hotspots, including Tesselated Pavement, a geometric splendour that changes from each angle and play of light.
Gen rallied the troops at 3.45am to go catch the first rays of dawn. This entailed a drive through the dark at a slow dusk to dawn 45km/hour speed limit to avoid squashing Tassie Devils, but the local potoroos mostly, some of whom had already ended up as furry cadavers on the tarmac.
Down the sideroads were the Tasman Arch, Remarkable Cave, and the Devil's Kitchen - all framed by gusting winds and rough seas.
