Loving Limmen National Park

Leaving Lorella Springs, we hit the Roper Highway into Limmen National Park.

The campsite at Southern Lost City was all ours with lots of flowering acacias and bottlebrush trees attended by flocks of honeyeaters and their avian mates.

We walk through the soaring, sculpted rock columns that are breathtaking and give the place its name.

In the evening, we light the campfire and cook barra fillets en papillotte in foil with lemon, butter and dill. Yummo! For next day we bake spuds in the campoven.

The dirt road continues through bulldust, corrugations and dry creeks to Tomato Island then on to Roper Bar where we see the old crossing. Maybe we didn't spot a croc but we saw a big bone which could have been the remains of a croc snack.

On the way we come across the beautiful sight of hundreds of calling black cockatoos gathered in massive flocks lining the road. This is as remote as remote can be and we are loving it.
