Burdekin Dam

After losing our way from Bowen River Rodeo and Campdraft, we wandered the dusty backroads before reaching Burdekin Dam (or Burdekin Falls Dam) which is across the Burdekin River in Queensland, south west of Ayr. The dam provides drinking water for the twin cities of Thuringowa and Townsville and a large irrigation scheme. We had a fun time following the snakey road below the dam and stopping for a walk on the rocky riverbed below.
