Absolutely Fabulous: FabAlice

For some fun, we turned up at the Alice Springs annual festival of LGBT, etc Gay Pride called FabAlice.

Initially, we thought it would be just a one man and his dog turnout, but there were 100s in the crowds and lots of fur babies, including a fab dachshund in a pink tutu going walkies for unconditional love.

The entertainment started with plenty of colourful chalking on the pavement of Todd Mall.

The crowds parted for a pageant procession of brightly festooned cars, police cars, ambulances, drag queens, dancing queens and divas of all genders, and the unconditional love fur baby team. Another star was a bare-chested Freddie Mercury.

In the crowds were Aboriginal spectators, young kids, cork-hatted bushies, and snappy dressers of all genders.

After the pageant, the event decamped to the park outside the Council Building where ‘drag races’ had young and old donning drag gear and racing each other holding a pink cocktail.

Gen dressed me in her hair grip to match the party spirit. An absolutely fabulous time was had by all.
