Well, the beautiful Indian Summer had to end eventually.
Last week, for three days, the winds howled, the seas raged, rains tipped down,
and waves overhung coastal NSW.
All the birds scurried for cover, the palms and pines swayed
alarmingly, and outdoor furniture threatened to barge back inside with the
gusting winds.
A visit to Kiama seaside blowholes, lighthouse and rockpools,
found us whipped by stinging rain, held upright by gales, and witnessing
awesome nature pushing its power through thunderous surf.
Not content with the
biggest storms for 40 years, nature also brought in a king tide, roaring to
conquer the beach right up to houses, and taking down a few.
Nature returns to rest and breathes easy again. As a last fiery reminder, the storm left us with spectacular sunsets.
Undeterred by the great white shark attack a few weeks ago, surfers took to the waves in extraordinary surfing conditions.
