Spain - The Floral Finger of Fate

Gen and I walked up the hillside above the village towards the castle ruins. En route Gen stopped to take photos of a clump of yellow flowers with one stem that had an attractive ensemble of spider and beetle together on the petals. A beaming five-year-old girl appeared in the path holding her mother’s hand whilst the child stooped frequently to pick up stones. As the girl approached she became fascinated by the clump of flowers. Gen uttered a loud, hissing, pleading ‘nooo’ as the child zeroed in on her target and hovered her hand over the insect ensemble before neatly swooping to pluck the neighbouring stem and continuing up the hill proudly clutching her flower.
