We camped at a magical spot near a billabong with birdlife galore. Gen was in heaven under 1,000 images in one day. So much action all day long: kites diving, egrets and herons squabbling and fishing, brolgas noisily announcing themselves. The light was fabulous at sunrise, great for backlit silhouettes.
Our first visit was so enjoyable, we went again. Brolgas made a daily appearance where they treated us to a mating display, complete with offering, foraging, eating, flying. The light was far from ideal but here we go with the best of the crop.
In true Aussie style, our neighbours invited us to their campfire for a yarn around the camp oven as we watched the sun go down over the billabong.
