Rainbow over Rainbow Valley

The sandstone cliffs of Rainbow Valley are a sight to behold on a sunny day, but on this visit, nature laid on an extra special display of towering storm clouds, pitter-pattering drops of rain, followed by the crowning glory of a rainbow.













We sat outside with thunder and lightning all around. The fresh scent of distant rain filled the air. Then the first gusts of wind heralded the arrival of soft raindrops quickening the pace of the storm clouds which passed overhead before parting to reveal a rainbow glowing above the jagged, caramel cliffs of the valley.











The sunrise was equally spectacular: the first rays highlighted the clouds, a sensuous, herbal perfume filled the air, and birdlife awakened with the first chirrups and trills.
