Sunday saw us down at Werri Beach in Gerringong for the surfing
competition. In full sun, we watched the surfers carve in and out of a flattish
sea. The scene was quintessentially Aussie: kids barely able walk, yet keen to
glide in on Dad's surfboard to the edge of the surf under Dad's supervision;
drones flying out to hover over the heads of the surfers; and onlookers, like
us, stretched out on the warm sand.
