We arrived at Bombo Beach carpark and our headlights surprised a highly amorous couple at full throttle on their backseat. Skirting round the action-packed car, we continued on foot into the night, past the fumes of the local sewage works, and down to the quarry with its tall, basalt columns soaring above us.
The Milky Way arced straight above in the midst of thousands of pinpricks of light. Myriad frogs croaked and creaked in the wet bushlands.

Robert ventured to the foot of the basalt columns, then climbed up onto a ridge directly above the heaving ocean. Waves started crashing over his feet, so he decided to pose with his torch as fast as possible in an effort to make contact with the closest earth-like planet, Proxima B. Well, so far we can't say what are the chances of success, but at least we hope the earth moved for the amorous couple.

To round off the night, we went to Minnamurra where the normally rough estuary was a mirror reflecting the stars. A beautiful way to finish off the night.

Friday night started with an excellent pizza at Olive & Vine with a bottle of Long Paddock to kick off. Then we motored off to Cathedral Rock for a late evening ramble across the beach where the waves rushed in below us. Gen pressed multiple buttons and numerous settings to capture the night sky in all its glory.
